God did no-no!

The story below is from when I was two years old. I wrote in the first person, but it is from my parents’ perspective. I hope you enjoy.

“God did no-no!”

Teaching young children to behave properly is difficult enough, but when God Himself undermines what you’ve been teaching your children, it becomes twice as hard.

From the time our daughter was old enough to hold a crayon, we began impressing on her the importance of coloring on paper only – a lesson she learned quickly.

As we were returning from Sea World that evening, our 2 year old daughter was looking contently out the backseat window. All of a sudden, she burst out, “God did no-no! God did no-no!”

Thinking she was make-believing as was her hobby, we ignored her until her cries became frantic. “God did no-no! God did no-no! God did no-no!”

Exhausted from the long day and wanting only peace and quiet, I turned to her, “What Rachael?”

She pointed to the sky, “God did no-no! He colored!”

And she was right; God had colored in the sky, painting the colors of a beautiful sunset.
