Alaskan Adventures – Prince William Sound

These are pictures that I took in April of 2009 when we were taking a cruise in Prince William Sound. Yes, it was April, and yes, there was still snow on the mountains. Brr! Everyone was wearing jackets and beanies.

Prince William Sound is located in the town of Whittier, Alaska. In order to get to Whittier, we had to go through a tunnel. This tunnel was shared with the train and traffic leaving Whittier. Every half hour, the tunnel would be opened for traffic going in one direction, then, every half hour on the hour, it would be opened for traffic going in the opposite direction. Periodically all traffic would be halted so the train could go through. (I have included the link to the Alaska Department of Transportation for those of you curious to see what the schedule was.
