Hoping for something . . .

“Hoping for something is always good for the soul”

– B. Traven (Reader’s Digest)

Sometimes when things are not going our way and our world seems to be working against us, it is hard to remain positive. Yet, it is in those times that we need to remain hopeful. For to give up on hope, is to give up on life. And, despite what we feel sometimes, life is worth living.

This quote reminds me of a book I read titled Gregor the Overlander, Underland Chronicles Book I. This book, written by Suzanne Collins, tells the story of a young boy (Gregor) whose father has mysteriously disappeared. His family is struggling financially and Gregor is having to make sacrifices to help his family. Throughout the book, Gregor wishes that his father would return home. However, he refuses to get his hopes up and dream of the day his father would return. Throughout his adventures in this book, Gregor learns the value of hope and the role it plays in helping boost our morale.
